The Two Pipe System, A Charmaster Exclusive.
A Charmaster furnace is engineered to perform like no other furnace on Earth.Creosote is formed by warm, moist, smoke condensing on a cool smoke pipe and chimney. If chimney temperatures are kept above 250 degrees, the formation of creosote is eliminated. The rear of a Chalet, Charmaster and Charmaster II firebox has two 8" outlets which connect to a large steel box called a heat exchanger. The hot gases (smoke) are burned by mixing with air in the firebox and the heat is down through the firebox and into the heat exchanger. The purpose of the heat exchanger is to extract more heat from the smoke and gases, before going up the chimney, increasing the efficiency of the furnace. The heat exchanger has two 8" smoke outlets on the back (see diagrams). The top smoke outlet is engineered to allow a controlled flow of warm smoke (heat) into the chimney to prevent creosote formation. A damper is provided in the top smoke outlet to control the amount of heat released for maintaining proper chimney temperature. (See diagrams). This prevents creosote formation, without allowing excessive heat to escape when larger fires are needed. The lower outlet releases the hot gases into the smoke pipe and chimney, after they have passed through the heat exchanger. |
